As a child, I used to sit in front of the television watching the show Emergency. Besides telling you how old I am now, I have always wanted to be a nurse just like Nurse Dixie with her white pill box hat. Before I graduated from high school, I joined the military and became a Naval Hospital Corpsman fulfilling part of my dream. Life took over though and I was blessed with four wonderful sons so I became just Mom for the next 25 years.
My boys are now graduating from college or close to it and starting thier own lives. I decided that it was my turn. In 2011, I started classes at Ivy Tech Community College with my focus to be accepted into the Nursing program which happened for me in June of 2013. I am now in my second semester but have hit a stumbling block for the summer session.
I was given some rather upsetting news a few weeks ago and the savings I had put back to help me with my summer classes has been eaten up with medical bills and prescriptions. So now I am scrambling to raise the funds necessary to complete my dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.
I have worked hard in my studies and will have a 3.9 GPA by the end of this semester. My ultimate goal is to continue on to get my Masters Degree and my dream job would be to work with our Wounded Warriors who are still suffering with their injuries and emotional struggles.
I hope you will consider donating even if it is only a $1. Every little bit helps.
