This is the story of my boyfriend, Brian Churchyard (26), whom is also 207cm (6ft10) tall.

In 2017, Johannesburg, South Africa, he was at his parents' home busy preparing dinner for the family at the age of 24, when 2 armed robbers entered the kitchen and held 2 guns up against him. One against his neck and one against his lower spine, as they guided him into the rest of the house, using him as a shield. They warned him that if he warns his family of their presence, that they would shoot him.
Knowing that his parents were in their room and unaware, he felt that he had to warn them, or atleast do something to help save his family. Within a split second he chose his family members' lives above his own and loudly shouted "Here's perpertrators in the house!". Without any hesitation, the robber with the gun against his lower spine pulled the trigger. Brian fell down and while his life flashed before him, a gun fight broke out around him, as his father and brother was fighting back. Not knowing what will happen next, the perpertrator that shot him, was held down by his father and brother untill the police eventually arrived. Unfortunately the other perpertrator got away with another suspect in a get-away car.

Everyone survived the attack, but unfortunately for Brian, his entire life had drastically changed at an instant. The hollow point bullet missed his spine by 1mm, but caused a massive exist wound on his left hip and fractured it. This resulted in serious nerve damage and in him losing feeling in his entire leg, as well as movement in his left foot.

Brian's reality took a major shift as his biggest fears came true:
- He became disabled, and he could no longer play any of his favourite sports.
- He had to stop working for a year, in order to recover.
- He had developed major psychological problems; PTSD, Anxiety, etc.
- He had to become used to living with daily unexplained nerve pains.

He has seen as many professionals and tried as many different treatments/therapies as what his finances could allow and up to a certain point. Unfortunately, for the last 1.5years, he had to try and cope with all of the pain by himself with almost no medication and with little financial aid. His conditions are worsening as his recources are limited.

One of the biggest problems that he is facing, because he is such a tall guy, is that he wears a size 17 (US) shoe and it is incredibly hard to find. Because of his nerve damage and imobility of his left foot, his left shoes should be fitted with specific support. He has a splinth, but unfortunately cannot be warn with the shoes he currently has, as they are too small to house his foot and the splinth.

So here is my plea:
I want to help Brian raise enough funds in order for him to see the necessary professionals, to start therapy again and to find shoes big enough to be fitted with the correct support.

Brian has such a sweet soul and shows love and kindness to all living things around him. He helps anyone in need at anytime (the best quality in him that luckily wasn't affected by the attack). Now, I think it's time to help him in return.

I wish that I could support him to the extent that he needs, but I cannot anymore than I already have and thus need to ask for help and I feel that this is the least that I can do to help him.

Thanks in advance.

Lots of love:
