Never in a million years did I think I would have a need to start a funding campaign. Never did I think Cancer would hit so close to home...but, it has!

For a few months now, my nephew, Brandon Davis, has been having unexplained headaches and pain, along with weakness and numbness in his Left Arm. On several occasions, he was given no answers and no real solutions. On Sunday, that problem came to an abrupt halt! He went to the ER (again!) for severe pains in his neck! While there, an MRI was done and a mass was found in his neck. The mass is not simply a lump, but it is actually squeezed in the gaps between the vertebrae in his neck. This explains why his pain had become so debilitating, making it difficult to eat, sleep, and focus. He was admitted to the hospital that same night and a biopsy was planned for Monday

The biopsy was performed Monday afternoon and the family was told it would take 3-4 days to get the results. On Wednesday afternoon, Brandon's doctor came to the room to tell him that the pathology results were not complete, BUT that the tumor was cancerous. It was going to take 2-5 more days to determine exactly what type of Cancer he has. By Thursday afternoon, Brandon was informed that it appears to be Sarcoma, which is a rare form of Cancer. Because of the location of his tumor, it is inoperable. The preliminary plan is radiation followed by chemotherapy, and then more radiation.

The pathology report is still not complete, but they finally found a way to manage his pain from home. Prior to releasing him, they needed to do another MRI and conduct some strength tests. While performing the strength test, Brandon was unable to lift his own Left arm. To avoid permanent nerve damage, radiation was scheduled to start promptly.

On Saturday, he had his first round of radiation. He was then released from the hospital a few hours later. He is now home, trying to get comfortable and get some rest. He has a long road ahead of him and a lot of decisions to make once the final pathology report is released (hopefully) by the end of next week.

Because we don't know the official diagnosis, we have absolutely no way of knowing how long this road will be. In the meantime, my sister is taking a leave of absence to be his caregiver. He is on heavy pain meds to allow him to function as much as possible, but won't be able to drive himself to appointments or take care of his basic needs. The family is in no way prepared for the financial weight of this situation. We do know, however, that we want the best for him! I want my sister (Laura) and brother-in-law (Eddie) to be able to focus on Brandon, rather than get overwhelmed by the financial burden that will weigh on the family.

For anyone that knows Brandon, you know what an amazing person he is! He is kind, smart, a hard worker, a loving son, a loyal friend, and a great big brother to his sisters, Bailey and Brooklynn. This makes it very hard to understand the "why him?" in all of this! 20 years ago when he came into this world, he stole my heart! He was my first little boy "love!" I've had the pleasure of watching him grow from an adorable little boy to an absolutely amazing young man!

As a kid, he played baseball and was a pretty darn good Left-handed pitcher! Even better than his pitching were his drive and dedication...which were apparent to his coaches and to his teammates. He finished his baseball "career" @ Edison High School. He decided to lay down baseball to focus on his college education. His goal is to become a High School math teacher (he is REALLY good at math!). He is currently working toward his AA @ Cypress College and hopes to be able to transfer to Cal State Long Beach for his Bachelor's Degree.

He has always been a hard worker and he always gives his best effort; in school, sports, and life. I have no doubt he will give his all in this fight as well!

Will you please help us support him in this fight, so he can someday realize his dreams? Will you please come alongside the family as they try to pick up all the pieces and fill all the gaps? His parents are such hard workers, but are in no way able to handle the financial burden that will come along with this battle.

Anything helps and we thank you in advance for anything you can donate to the cause!

Most importantly, we would ask for your prayers! This is a very scary time of unknowns for all of us! Please pray for peace, direction, and comfort for Brandon and his girlfriend, Ashley. Pray for the family and his friends to have strength to do all that will need to be done through this battle. Pray for the doctors to have the wisdom and clarity needed to determine how to best get him through this and on the road to recovery. I see God's hands in this situation and am holding onto hope because of that!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Please share this campaign if you are able to. Thank you!

#BrandonsArmy

Sincerely,

Brandon's very proud "Auntie Jennifer"
