Campaign Story
Backstory
I adopted Asteria (the tortoiseshell cat) when I was
in high school. She grew up to be a very calm, quiet, clean and
high-strung cat. She became pregnant with Tilly (the tabby cat) and
her brothers and sister. We were able to find homes for the others
through friends and family but 4 weeks after they were born my
wonderful ginger cat, Atlas, was attacked in my backyard by a
neighbor's cat. Due to multiple factors, I had no choice but to have
him put down. Because I lost him, I was prepared to keep Tilly who
grew up to be dopey and an attention seeker. I love how when she's
approached she'll fling herself to her side or back so that we can rub
her belly.
What I need help for
I was self-employed by
running a market stall up until 5 months ago to bring in some income
during uni but I couldn't afford to keep going. As a result I've had
to make a lot of cheaper switches and sacrifices. A switch I really
didn't want to make was cheap supermarket pet food. Pets have the
potential to live into their 20's but on a diet of supermarket pet
food they only live to around 15 to 17. They were on a raw natural
diet before which helps all animals live longer and healthier lives.
Also, Both of my girls have been getting beaten up by multiple
male cats in the neighborhood we've moved into. I'm worried the same
thing that I went through with Atlas, I will go through again with
these two angels and I want to get pet insurance for some peace of mind.
If you feel I don't deserve support and I should take care of
myself and my cats and get a job, then you don't have to support me.
I haven't been able to find work and potential employers I've
spoken to just don't want university students, (they only offer 10-15
hours a week casual and they wonder why they have uni students apply
:/ ). I'm exploring lots of unconventional ways to make money as I've
just gotten sick of being turned down again and again for normal jobs.
I was working at the Cotton Tree Markets which supports cancer
research. Stall fees go straight to cancer research and I participated
regularly in donations and raffles. I've helped others and now I need
to ask for some help. In the future when I'm working in the field I'm
studying for I hope to be able to help others the way I've been helped
