Here's a progress report on helping Artemis Schwebel come back to the US and get the care he needs. As many know, he has become ill while living in Greece. Artemis is Roni's brother, Valerie's cousin, and the son of the late Ivan Schwebel. He has been in a hospital in Greece but now needs long-term care for a serious chronic health condition. He will get the best care if he moves back to New York City.
In late May 2016, thanks to the generous support of many friends and family, he will fly back to NYC from Athens. We are still in the process of arranging for care for him. While he will likely qualify for Medicaid to pay for his care in the long run, there are many immediate expenses that he needs help with - flying him and caregivers from Greece to New York, round-the-clock aide care while arranging for Medicaid services, which may take weeks or months, and other support.
His brother, sister, kids, and cousins still need your help to help him make these arrangements so that he can live with dignity and hope. We all thank you for your support.
As of May 14th, we our half-way to our goal to raise $15,000, which we estimate is the amount needed to move him back from Greece and make this transition.
Thanks to all of our generous friends and family for your support.
