How we got here.

Angela was in a horrific auto accident in September of 2012. Her father either fell asleep or swerved to miss a dog, depending on who is telling the story. The SUV he was driving flipped ten times before coming to a stop. Her father’s girlfriend died in the accident. Since her father had minimal insurance, half automatically went to his girlfriend’s family. What happened to the rest we do not know. But we do know that he bought a new truck not long after he was supposed to get the money for Angela’s medical bills.

What were her injuries?

Luckily Angela was asleep in the back seat when the accident happened. The doctors say if she had been awake she would have braced herself and probably would not have made it through the accident. As a result she was rammed into the ceiling, back window and floorboard of the truck. It finally came to rest on the roof with Angela staring into the open eyes of her father’s girlfriend. Angela had part of her scalp torn almost completely off of her head; she has multiple cuts on her face, arms and hand. She also broke several teeth.

Where we are now.

Angela’s wounds have healed but there is a lot of scar tissue on her forehead and arms. Her teeth are not fixed and cause her pain on a daily basis. Her mother and I have done all we can to help Angela through this. However, our finances are limited as we are taking care of Angela’s uncle who has Cerebral Palsy. I hate to see such a beautiful young girl disfigured by her father’s carelessness and callousness toward her. I am only her step father, but this is my last attempt to do what I can to help her.
