I first met NOLA AHOLA fifty years ago when, as a young artist myself, I moved to Seattle and was looking for colleagues to share modeling fees for life drawing sessions. She was the only one to respond; and we teamed up to work from live models, drawing side by side for many years. I always considered NOLA to be producing some of the finest figure drawings in the Pacific Northwest - she truly is a regional treasure! Now NOLA has late stage Parkinson's Disease, but in spite of this challenge she continues to work at her creative process. She is preparing for an autumn solo exhibition at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art. However, not only does she need at least two more months of studio rent to finish the work, but she also requires professional caregivers to assist her. The cost to make this happen is beyond her means. Any donation made now can be used toward purchasing NOLA AHOLA's original figurative drawings, paintings and collages, with a display website coming in August/September. Let's help her complete preparations for this upcoming prestigious show, one that will surely prove to be a beautiful addition to the story of figurative art in the Pacific Northwest.
