I am 57, my husband is 55 and we have a 17 year old daughter. In August of 2011 I had emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder and when I came from surgery I had suffered a stroke. My speech was affected. My job was in sales I could no longer speak properly so I lost my job. Then we fell into a financial bind and lost the home we were renting for 12 years. The landlord would not work with us to lower our rent. We were paying him $1,500 a month. I was fortunate to be able to collect unemployment until it ran out, my husband works and my daughter has been trying to get a job but has been very hard because she is under the age of 18. We have for the last 16 months been living in a weekly rental paying $310 a week for a small two bedroom one bath suite and because we do not have the money up front to get into a rental house without the first month's rent and deposit, and since our landlord evicted us we are not credit worthy to most people to waive our deposit. Then in November of 2012, I suffered another setback, I was suffering from a lot of pain and my doctor suggested I see a orthopedic surgeon, after having xrays of my knees and hips, the surgeon said I needed to have both my hips replaced. It has become harder and harder for me to walk, so I had to go to the use of a walker. Where we live is so small that sometimes it is so hard to move around because it is so cramped. My fundraising is to get my family into a new home. I have applied for Social Security Disability and it is a long process. Getting back into a home will take the tension that my family and I have been suffering for so long away, especially my daughter whom this has been really hard on. Through this all she has maintained a straight A average in her senior year of high school I would love to be able to get into a new home before she graduates at the end of May all she wants for a graduation present is a new home. Thanks for listening and helping.
