Help a Brazilian student attend the MIT Bootcamp

Who am I?

My name is Matheus, I am 23 years old, and I graduated in International Relations, and I am currently a student of the Geography Master's degree at the Federal University of Roraima and, lately, I have been researching the impact of technology on food development. During my research, I began to think how the technology we have today could be applied to solving one of the humanity's greatest problems: hunger.From that, the opportunity came to participate in the MIT Beyond Food Bootcamp, a program of the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to develop new ideas for food production that have better durability, sustainability, and transparency in the production process.

The Program

The MIT Beyond Food Bootcamp focuses on sustainability, transparency, and health, exploring the breadth and diversity of the food life cycle of sustainable growth of food, food innovations, health and wellness, food waste and recycling. My project, chosen by the MIT, focuses on the use of Big Data can predict the percentage of food that will not be sold + those that are close to the expiration date so that these foods can be referred to those in need before the expiry date. Reducing the waste of food and opening up a greater possibility for food recycling.

The program is highly selective due to the university's position (currently the best in the world), the competition was fierce, and only the most promising young people in the area were selected, and I was one of them.

The activities developed there will count on the support and mentoring of the best researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovators in the field, providing an excellent learning experience for young people like me and, at the same time, allowing the implementation of these solutions in our places of origin, in my case, Brazil.

Unfortunately, due to the high number of qualified candidates, I was not awarded a scholarship. As the costs of the program and the trip are very expensive, I would like to ask for your help.
