Campaign Story
Langkawi island depends heavily on the tourism industry for income. As a result of the pandemic, the island has come to a standstill and many families have had their livelihood taken away from them.
The villagers of Bukit Malut, one of the most rural areas of the island, are particularly badly hit because all access roads in to the village have been barricaded due to Covid outbreaks. The people here are in dire condition and have been depending on meagre and sporadic aid from various organisations and groups.
What they are receiving is simply not enough.
As a female driven outfit, Langkawi Mai Mai is especially concerned about the needs of ladies as well as those caring for young children. Through another organisation, we have identified 100 families who could really use items such as:
- Baby diapers
- Baby milk
- Sanitary pads
Right now, our focus is to meet the immediate needs of these groups. We need your help to make this happen. 100% of donation will go to the selected 100 families in Bukit Malut and full transparency of expenditure can be provided upon request.
It only costs RM95 to provide sanitary essentials to a woman and her child for 4 months. On behalf of our island community, we are grateful for your contributions.
