He is not heavy, he is my Brother.

Hi Everyone, apologies for not been giving regular updates, life has been hectic for me. Unlike my brother Jeremy, once level 4 started we went back to work and its been non stop ever since and very challenging. Been involved in IT, everyone wants a piece of you!

Anyway a HUGE thank you once again to all the donors to this campaign both past and present. As I have already mentioned in the past, I am in awe and extremely humbled by the response to my campaign to assist my brother Jeremy who basically all but lost a very successful business that he had been building up over the last 20+ years, starting with virtually nothing but himself, his drive and determination to what it was just before 26 March 2020. Not one of us (Except Bill Gates, LOL) could have ever expected this pandemic, that came along and created so much destruction, from an enemy that no one can see or hear!

So with great excitement for a large majority of South Africa, we will eventually enter into level 3 Lock Down on 1 June 2020. Some issues still need to be ironed out by the policy and law makers, but in theory this should get SA back to work and get the economy jump started again.

Unfortunately for my brother Jeremy, this still does not bring any short term relief to his industry at all, since all the social distancing rules and laws will all still be in-force and this has a direct impact on the events industry, since large public gatherings etc which are the life blood of the events industry are all still banned to level 1.

I wonder to my self how long will it take to eventually get to level 1? Look how long it took to get from a hard lock down to level 3 and their is still no guarantee that we will go from level 3 to level 2 as things may get worse before they get better then we simply revert back to level 4 or Gd forbid level 5. Also a very big unknown is that us as individuals, all levels aside, each person will have their own perception of how safe they feel to venture out of their homes, go back to work, school, join groups of gatherings when allowed etc... Again all having a direct impact on the events industry. Will the industry as a whole, ever fully recover and if so how long will this take, not in the entire world, but specifically in SA, where we have our own unique circumstances and set of issues relating to this pandemic?

Once again many many thanks to all the contributors to this campaign. Even if you only liked and shared my posts on FACEBOOK, I still consider you as a contributor as this helps us in a huge way to spread the message.

May Gd bless you all and your families with health and all other good things. Please stay safe!! Remember please like and share!!!

So let me just start by saying WOW!! I had never expected this campaign to reach so far and wide as it has so far and for the over whelming response that we have had so far. Once again a big thanks to all the past backers as well as all the new backers from the past couple of days. Thank you! Words alone cannot express enough my gratitude to everyone of you.

I feel so humbled by all the contributors to this campaign. Besides the monetary assistance one of the most important aspects of this type of campaign I feel, is the positive energy that is created out of it. Its something that is hard to fully describe, but in such times of uncertainty when the world is in a crisis with its self, it helps to restore your belief in the world that we are currently living in and I suppose your belief in humanity as a whole.

My brother Jeremy has received many messages from all over the world, from people from different walks of life, some who we have not been in touch with for more than 20+ years, others that are simply just sending messages of support and encouragement. We are truly thankful to you all!

For me personally, I have a sense of great achievement so far, that something that I literally though-up in no less than 5 minutes, at some weird hour of the early morning (Like 2 or 3am) a few weeks back, after having a very long phone call conversation with my brother, is actually going to help him, after I felt so helpless and wished I had the financial means, to their and then simply just send him however much he needed to go on and not worry, because had the roles been reversed, my brother would not hesitate to do it for me. I had such a feeling of desperation, not for myself, but for my brother a few weeks back and the response to the campaign so far has definitely made light of that for me.

As I sit here and write this update, I cannot believe that in just short of 3 weeks, we will have already hit the halfway mark in the year! Wow it seemed like just yesterday that on the 23 of March this year, we heard the first rumors of the possible impeding lock down and Wham just days later their it was and now it is a reality and our daily life for who knows how long?

A huge thank you to everyone again!! Please do me a favor and like and share my post on Facebook. Even just the the simple action of a "like" and a share is as good as any contribution to this campaign. My Gd bless you are your family's with health and all other good things. Stay safe!!

So I am adding this update early today, to say thank you once again for all the new backers. I woke up this morning to a nice surprise to see that their had been a really nice response overnight from our overseas community. So thank you, thank you and thank you.

Also a special shout out to a very good friend of ours who we grew up with and to us him and his entire family represent an extension of our family. Thank you so much to Michael Carklin who volunteered to join me on this campaign and I never even asked him to! Thanks to Michael he gave me a lot of input and help to get the campaign some momentum, so a very BIG thank you for that!

So this weekend I was planning to go into a bit of history and give you some back story about my brother and my family in general. In the meantime, I would like you to click on the link below and see the post from my brother that he recently put onto face book. This will be an introduction to my back story. Please note this was not planned in any way and I happened to be looking at face book this morning and saw his post. So I though this would be the perfect opportunity for me to link this so that he can tell you his story in his own words. (Scroll down to the bit at the bottom once you press the link below. It starts with "I just firstly want to thank everyone for all the love support and messages it means so much to me and my family.
I just want to take some time on this post to explain to you why they are claiming 1/2 million Rand.")

Once again I would like to give a sincere thank you to all the previous backers and all the new ones that have given so generously this past week. I really applaud all of you for this, words are simply not enough, but all I can offer at the moment.

Well its been a few days since I gave an update and that's because I my self, unlike my brother Jeremy, has a business to go back to and hopefully keep going. TG it seems we are so far so good and have been busy this week. We have decided to re-open our offices but still maintain social distancing, by putting in place certain measures and procedures to allow us to rotate between home and office and all take turns.

As you may or may not know if you have not been following my updates and this campaign that I started for my brother, he unfortunately is involved in one of the worst hit industries as a result of Covid-19 and the resultant outcome of social distancing and that is the events and entertainment industry. Together with hospitality and travel and the restaurant industry in South Africa these business have been so hard hit that even big guys like Comair, who operate and run the local air carrier Khalula, was just the other day placed into business rescue.

So although for me its seems that their is a tiny little bit of normal starting to re-appear and I use the word "tiny", as I still cannot get used walking around in public wearing a face mask or seeing everyone else for that matter donning face masks as well. For My brother he still has to wait for a level one lock down to be implemented in South Africa and nobody including the self proclaimed experts can give an exact time frame of when that might be.

But I cannot help thinking when will we return to normal if ever? How long is that going to take? And what will be the new definition of NORMAL?

If I can please request just one favor from you and that is please like and share my Face Book post's about this campaign so that with your help I can get the word out as far as possible to help and assist in the only way that I can now, to give my brother at least a fighting chance to rise from the ashes. My Gd bless you and your families with health all other good things.

Please click on the link to be re-directed to Face Book so you can like and Share.

Please stay safe and Thank you.

Once again I would like to start off today's update by thanking everyone who has donated so far to my campaign for my brother.

We'll today was the beginning of a new start for my brother. Not one to sit back and just mope around the house during lock-down or veg out on NETFLIX etc........my brother has been thinking and racking his brain in an attempt to find a way to keep himself current and at the same time try to get some income, since his income to-date has been zero other than the donations we have received for him so far from this campaign.

With great excitement we chatted on the phone together over the past couple of days and he told me about his plan to do some magic shows online for kids birthday parties. Not to be outdone by anyone else my brother spent almost the entire week, researching this and planning and setting up and testing. My brother has always been somewhat of a perfectionist so he really put his heart and sole into it and went all out in an attempt to make sure that his first show would go off without any glitches and be a success and most of all entertaining for all the participants.

As exhausted as he was after pulling an all righter to get ready and perfect his show, he finally went live at 2:30pm today for a private audience for a 5 year old birthday party.

All I can say is WOW, what a show, the kids really seemed to be enjoying it and looked like they were really having a good time. It seemed a bit foreign and odd to me, but I am over 50 and the kids seemed to all acclimate them selves to the process very easily, laughing and shouting out and interacting just as they would in person and as I have personally seem them do in person, so to them, its seems this is no real difference. They were all still fixed to their screens watching in anticipation as each trick was pulled off by my brother, followed by the usual shrills of laughter. As I my self watched for longer and longer the process for me became more familiar.

I think the best part of the show is the kids reactions and the laughter that my brother is able to evoke from them. Well Done Jeremy!!!!

Woke up this morning to a cold and rainy day in JHB, really miserable outside, just like our economy at present.

Thanks again to all the backers for your support over the last 24 hours. Your generous contributions are greatly appreciated.

We are about to enter into the new month of May. Pretty much uncharted territory for most of us who are self employed and run their own businesses. Most of us have had little to no assistance from our financial institutions, offering nothing more that marketing on how to wash your hands and wear a face mask or remind you how to pay your accounts electronically.

One of things I have come to realize with all these financial institutions, is that they are basically waiting for you to call them and make some suggestions and offerings, wether its a cancelltion of a policy or simply a request for a reduction or payment holiday from a monthly payment. Some are more understanding than others but in general they all seem to have the same attitude, no matter what they expect their full compensation regardless of the time taken to pay or cost of the additional interest that is attached their to. Its seem they are the only ones who are going to make any real decent profits out of thid pandemic.

Once again a very big thank you to all the new backers today. Every little bit counts no matter how big or small.

Its only day 2 now since I launched this campaign for my brother Jeremy and its exactly 1 day and 1 Month since we have been in lock down in South Africa. Wow an entire month has gone by. Actually now that I look back its gone quite fast, it seems like yesterday that everyone was running around like crazy buying up all the toilet paper and hand sanitizer. LOL but that was a whole month ago!

In South Africa, we don't seem to have an extremely high infection rate or death toll yet, but the numbers of known infections is starting to take a bit of a rise now. To date, it seems their are 4546 infections and only 87 deaths. I actually think this is quite remarkable for a country like ours, been 3rd world and all and it also shows the tremendous work that our government has been doing to try to deal and managed with this pandemic. I am sure like most other South Africans, we are are so proud of our president Mr Ramaphosa and for the bold steps that he has chosen to take in locking us down.

Unfortunately however in ever crisis and every type of war, their are winners and looser, In this case South Africa's people I think are the winners and sadly our economy is the looser. Hopefully our economy will one recover from this, sooner than later? Perhaps this is the best thing that could have happened to our economy is the last 100 years? Definitely its the worst thing presently.

Who knows what the future holds for us? Does anyone know? Will life as we knew it ever be the same again?

Time will tell!

Thank you again to everyone so far who has so graciously taken part in this campaign. May Gd bless you with health and many other good things!
