Harvey and Irma restoration for the special needs coummunities

As we all have watched the news coverage on the devastation and destruction of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma within Texas and Florida, our hearts were saddened to see so many people affected by the storms. After the storms ran their courses, we had seen many people go to victims' rescue in response to their emergency circumstances. Prior to the storms, there were calls to help people move out of the way of the storms. However, for some people,they are not able to get out of harm's way within the same quickness as those with regular mobility functionality. Because of these circumstances, we have seen tragedies occur to people with mobility impairments within natural disasters.

This is the foundation of the campaign. This campaign was designed as a emergency call to action to assist people with physical special needs that were affected by the storms. As a mother with an adult child with a physical impairment, it breaks my heart to see people with physical needs being misplaced and in the state of despair due to these unfortunate events. Within these types of disasters, most of us tend to think about our homes or other material possessions, however for people with special needs, they think more about their special life essentials and their care-giving situations during times of distress on top of everything else. Their special life essentials includes medications that they need and special accommodation devices that they use to assist them to be mobile such as wheelchairs and other devices which may rely on electricity.

Due to the severity of the situations, they cannot be able to function without their life essentials. Because these storms caused so much damage, everything that people need to function have been destroyed. As a way to assist people to recover their lives and primary essentials as well as the care-giving support essentials that they need on a daily basis, this campaign seeks to raise awareness of people within the disabled population. This campaign also seeks donations for people in need within these circumstances.
