My name is Terri and I am a 42 year old single mother of two young adults. Taylor, my daughter is 19 and living in Oregon where she attends school. My son Eddie is 23 and soon to be deployed with the US Army. This is difficult for me as I am used to being the one to help. I have learned through recent trials and diagnoses that it's those that are truly in need that do not ask. I was diagnosed two years ago with an rare auto immune disorder called Primary Biliary Cholangitis. I was asymptotic for the most part for 20 years as I worked and raised my kids. The frequent vomiting spells were misdiagnosed as migraines over those decades. Which brought me to 2015 where I had to have two work related surgieres on my R hand and wrist. It was during that rehab period my illness was discovered and confirmed. By that point I was already stage 3 Cirrhosis and I began testing to be placed on a liver transplant list. After the Endoscopy was clear an Abdominal MRI was the next step. That's where a tumor was discovered in my spine and my R Adrenal gland. During this time my employer dropped my insurance, I was told I would not be able to work again and when I asked why not I was told without a transplant in the stage I am in that I have around 8 to 10 years. My workers comp immediately became disability however it still has to go through the SSD process? This is all new to me as I thought I would be retiring from my employer. What bring me here to this site is after caring for my Mom who passed of Breast Cancer 10 years ago this month and trying my best to keep my disabled father afloat who was in the Vietnam War Air Force I find that this process has taken nearly two years even WITH an incurable illness. I have finally made it to a date with a judge 6/16/2017 in which I am told I will then be approved and this claim will be backdated however until then my savings is now depleted and I fear me and my father will be evicted from our tiny one bedroom apt. The amount I listed would cover our rent and bills for three months and I could even repay once this claim is settled. I need to keep pushing forward with the testing and get these tumors removed and biopsied so I can get back on the transplant list. I thank anyone for even taking the time to read this. God bless.
