Happy Island Waterworld opened its doors on 02 January 2019 bringing a much needed waterpark experience to all, in the heart of Johannesburg.
To date we've had in excess of 100 000 visitors which required an immediate increase in operational staff leaving us with a staff compliment of 130, both permanent and temps. These employees reside in the surrounding townships and squatter camps and we feel honored to have made such a huge difference in the lives of the poor.
COVID-19 doesn't discriminate and leaves nothing to spare. Happy Island Waterworld had to temporary close its doors leaving all our employees in want , employees whose respective livelihoods depend on their jobs.
As an organisation we've explored all funding avenues offered by government and awaiting outcome but the reality of the matter is: our people are going hungry and we have to explore one more option which is this.
We hereby appeal to you the friends of the Island to kindly assist us in raising funds to be applied solely to their well-being. Funds raised will go towards salaries of the the permanent staff whilst the seasonal temp workers will receive aid in the form of food parcels or vouchers, where applicable. The entire process will be transparent.
In exchange for any donation we offer the following when we reopen in Spring should all relevant factors permit:
1. 50% discount on kids access passes. Currently R99 and reduced to R50 for donors.
2. 60% discount on adult access passes. Currently R199 and reduced to R80 for donors.
We'd like to express our most sincere gratitude to all willing to contribute, every Rand counts and will make a difference.
A special heartfelt thank you to the individuals who will contribute but not take advantage of the discount, it's highly appreciated.
Yours in solidarity
Happy Island Waterworld
