About
A BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Hello, everybody. My name is Yusuke Hama, and I’ve been making music as Hamacide for about 11 years now. I started playing classical music when I was 4 years old and played guitar in bands as I got older, so I guess you can say I’ve been involved in music most of my life. Over the years, I’ve been in collaborative projects, remixed for other artists, and released music under various record labels in the US, China, and Japan. However, in recent years my Hamacide output has taken a back seat to making a living and running my Twin Capital record label. This album and the accompanying videos have been a long time coming. I am putting my heart and soul into making this project and making it my #1 priority. This is a giant step for me in focusing more on making my own music and video content and paving the way to be able to make a living doing creative work.
ALREADY MOVING
I am currently putting the finishing touches on my first Hamacide release in 8 years. I will also produce 2 music videos to accompany the album. I have been shooting some video already, but I need your help to fully complete this project and bring it to fruition.
ABOUT THE ALBUM
The album will contain 4 songs and is tentatively titled "Heart Rain". I was out with some friends at a karaoke bar in Shanghai years ago and saw the characters "心雨" (Heart Rain) on the TV screen. This combination of words stuck in my brain for years.
I can hardly call myself a singer, so I enlisted the help of Crunchybird (Tokyo), Kudo Kamome (Kyoto), HJHM (Tokyo), and ChaCha Yehaiyahan (Shanghai) to contribute their talents to these songs. I met all of these amazing artists during my time here in Asia, and I feel a strong connection with all of their music regardless of the language they sing in. I can't wait for you to hear these songs.
ABOUT THE VIDEOS
I will produce videos for 2 of the songs on the album. Making videos is a much more collaborative effort than making music. The director, cinematographer, production designer, stylist, and other crew will bring their skills to the table and help me bring the songs to life visually. It is a process that is creatively, logistically, and financially challenging, and I love it.
WHY KICKSTARTER?
Years ago, I used Kickstarter to fund my first full-length Hamacide album. It was a successful campaign, and I was deeply moved and grateful to all the people who supported my work.
You may be thinking, "Hey man, don't you run a label? Why do you need my help?" As you know, times are changing, and many artists and creatives have had to find alternative methods to fund their art while keeping their day jobs. For 8 years, my Hamacide solo projects have had to take a backseat to other things. Kickstarter is the best way I know of that can allow me to create while keeping the lights on.
HOW WILL THE MONEY BE SPENT?
The money will be allocated into 2 budgets: Music and Video
Music: These funds will go to the vocalists, additional musicians, mastering, additional engineering, etc. A lot of the music side is done by myself, so the bulk of the budget will go a toward the videos.
Video: These funds will go toward crew, gear rental, locations, transportation, insurance if needed, etc.
IF I EXCEED MY GOAL
If I exceed my funding goal, I will put the extra funds toward increasing the video production budget. The extra funding will increase production value, which can come from additional shooting time, locations, and post-production services.
If I am fortunate enough to go way over my goal, I can even consider making an additional video.
