It’s surreal that three little words can send your world crashing down around you. The moment life becomes more than just putting one foot in front of the other. The moment the doctor looks at you and says, “You have Cancer.”

Those were the words we heard on June 9th 2017 after a routine doctor’s appointment, for what we thought was pneumonia. Moments later the room cleared to give my dad and I a moment. I promised him then I would do whatever I could to help him survive this. Since that day I have exhausted every resource available to me and now I humble myself and ask the wonderful people who visit this site for help. I believe that when disaster strikes people pull together and I firmly believe there are good hearted people out there who are willing to lend a helping hand to someone in desperate need. My father is 55 years young and has been diagnosed with Squamish Cell Sarcoma of the lungs (stage 4 lung cancer) This fund is for him, his name is Deril Hester. For those of you who don’t know him please let me introduce you to my Daddy. My father is a Christian man, he is a wonderful man with a heart of gold. He lights up a room by walking into it and always has a smile on his face. He is always positive and even now while sick he cares more about others than he does for himself. He is someone who always sees the good in life, the good in people and the opportunity to help someone in need. He is the kind of man who would help a stranger change a tire, give teddy bears to the kids at the cancer hospital on Christmas, give you the shirt off his back if he thought it would help someone. He is the father of one daughter and a 5-year-old grand-daughter who he means the world to. I would like to back up for a quick second to give a short back story. 6 months ago my father fell 30 feet off a ladder, landing on a sea wall and shattering the lower part of his body. He spent 4 months in a rehab center re-learning how to walk. He became ill shortly after and was put on antibiotics for pneumonia. June 8th he attended his granddaughter’s pre-K graduation and the next morning was admitted to the hospital with a diagnoses of cancer. Now we are on a race against time to get him the treatment he needs to survive. I am trying to raise $25,000 which would go to his treatment and transportation to and from treatments. He is uninsured, which makes this so much harder to get help. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
