Granny’s Funeral

My wonderful grandmother passed away, August 12, 2011. She was the best person in the world. She never met a stranger. I truly believe that she is my guardian angel.

Before she passed, she thought she had an insurance policy that would cover the cost of her funeral and services. Little did she know, her husband wasnt paying the premium.

One friday, out of nowhere, hospice comes in. Granny seemed very normal and was even walking and talking. The nurse told her to lay down and not get up. After that, she slowly passed. The nurse said that she was smothering because her lungs were filling with fluid.

Her loving doctor saw her name in the paper obituary and was in total shock. He sent off blood results, and it turns out that she passed from a heart attack. I always wonder if she would be here if we called the ambulance, but then I remind myself that God has a plan.

The funeral arrangements were made and unfortunately her insurance policy was no good. We couldnt afford the costs because we are a lower class family. My parent's, both disabled, mortgaged their house to pay for the services. They are deeply struggling with the payments and costs of living with such small disability checks. My Dad's father and siblings wont help and I am afraid they will lose the house.

I know that my Granny wouldnt want this burden on anyone. It's quite embarassing writing this. We need help. Any thoughts, prayers or donations are greatly appreciated.
