Goldenheart, I refer to a wonderful, loving, caring, sweet woman known to friends, families and the local community as the woman with the heart of gold. A beautiful soul that dedicated herself and younger years to look after disadvantaged and foster children in care, helping single parents, working with social services, local schools, charities and local government and always being a source of love, support and inspiration to others. In the last year, she has battled against cancer, survived a possibly fatal accident when hit by a lorry, numerous trips to the hospital both long and short stay and lost her ability to stand and walk. While fighting cancer, sepsis, pneumonia, kidney infection and effects of chemotherapy. Please donate, share and help Goldenheart fight back.

Goldenheart, I refer to a wonderful, loving, caring, sweet woman known to friends, families and the local community as the woman with the heart of gold. A beautiful soul that dedicated herself and younger years to look after disadvantaged and foster children in care, helping single parents, working with social services, local schools, charities and local government and always being a source of love, support and inspiration to others.

In her later years, she had volunteered to help teach and speak English to people from disadvantaged backgrounds from around the world, she has an amazing gift to connect with people. Across the globe, young and disadvantaged were provided with care, education, inspiration and love by her. She would often donate food, clothes, toys, books and prepare hot meals for people in need.

The Last 12 Months.....

Life hits you hard and the last year has been challenging in so many ways and yet she is still determined to recover, fight, heal and love in order to help others.

May 2018 She was in remission having completed eye surgery and as a family, we felt positive about the future as saving her sight was vital and we knew at the time the procedure would be strenuous on her. With 3 weeks into her recovery, she discovered a lump in her breast. Due to the size of the lump, she was quickly tested and the Sunday before the results were to be presented by the consultant, we woke to find her with a tennis ball-sized lump on her cheek, fearing the worst we rushed her to the hospital where later that night she had been diagnosed with parotid sialadenitis. The inflammation and enlargement of salivary glands which could have developed blocking her air passage.

After being admitted into intensive care, the following day at the same hospital where we were to have our results, it was discovered it was early breast cancer and it was widespread approx. 9.5cm, the best option was to start a course of Chemotherapy which had a number debilitating side effects which included a higher risk of certain infections and muscle and joint fatigue and failure.

One day before we were due to start, a short trip to the seaside for the day to look at ocean view and have a positive outlook turned into a possible fatality. 25 mins into the journey a commercial lorry came into the side of us and was inches away from flipping the car over. Battered, bruised and whiplashed with the car written off, we returned home, where she began treatment the following day.

Shortly as she started her dose of chemotherapy treatment we noticed the change, she began to struggle with a high fever and her strength was depleting within 72 hours she could not stand, and she was vomiting and was exhausted and could not stand or walk. After the emergency services arrived, they indicated she may have sepsis and again we admitted into intensive care. Where she had sepsis in addition to pneumonia and the infection had gone to her kidneys which had also been affected.

While in different hospitals and being moved from various departments and hospitals she was not given the right equipment in order so that she could keep moving her joints and muscles mobile and moving. After 14 days of sitting in bed with no movement, all her muscles in her legs had diminished leaving her unable to stand or walk. After being bedridden long term, she has developed pressure ulcers on her sacrum and lower thighs which is extremely painful, in addition to further skin conditions which are extremely painful, exposing her to further bacterial infection, blood poisoning and osteomyelitis. From her lack of movement, her lymphodema has accelerated leaving her with extreme swelling on her legs, ankles and wrists.

We desperately need specialist equipment, a carers support package which we have not been able to get through the health service provisions. After pursuing every option and different avenues via health service and local social service authorities and leading to no help. She now needs 24hr care and the appropriate equipment to ensure her she is not permanently hospitalised and she is not permanently bedridden. Every day for her is a day full of pain and struggle but yet she fights. The signs of depression have emerged and a feeling of hopelessness. I can't let this happen to a woman that taught many to fight, smile, show compassion and have faith in the Almighty in times of adversity. We are urgently in a race against time to permanent deterioration and help recover and heal so that we can overcome side effects of chemotherapy and carry forward her battle with cancer and heal from the last 12 months. We also have the daily issue of the pressure ulcers that have developed on her body which puts her at daily risk of sepsis which can be fatal.

Every donation will get help us to get appropriate care, equipment, transport, home modifications and private treatments and costs for her so that she can stand and walk again. Her determination to recover and her fight on is driven by her want to serve the community and return to being the Goldenheart she is and give her love and care.

She still has the fight and determination to get back and pay it forward by raising awareness of cancer, helping the homeless and providing support for the elderly and children to carry the good work forward.
