Gin’s Medicines Cost

I don't know where to start...

Gin's medicines (Cyclosporine, Prednisone, Zonisamide, SAMe, Thyradin, Ursodiol) cost around 350 USD a month. This is not including his monthly vet visit for monitoring, blood work, acupuncture, Chinese herbals, supplements, etc. In total, we spend about 1,000~1,500 USD a month for Gin's expenses alone not including the above medicines cost to maintain his current condition. This is more than half of our combined income but Gin is family and we'd do whatever it takes to give him the care that he needs.

We maxed out our credit cards for Gin's medical expenses when he became our family member two and a half years ago. Our credit cards debt is close to 1 million Japanese yen (about 10,000 USD) and we are working hard to pay them off.

A few things came up and we are financially squeezed from all directions, and found that we are in a position for no room to wiggle. After some long and careful consideration, I had to swallow my pride and decided to set up this funding for Gin's best interest.

Gin's VKH/UVD is one of the worst case. Without one of the current treatments there's a possibility of triggering one of the symptoms. Last year, we had a set back financially too and had to cut some of the main supplements. Within two weeks, his condition worsened and he had a seizure that triggered his head tilt. It took us a year to get his head tilt almost back to normal. The thought of not being able to give him the care that he needs gave me a fright...

I set up the goal to 500,000 JPY (about 5,000 USD) as it will help us cover his medicines cost for one year and allow us to continue giving Gin the care that he needs to maintain his current condition.
