Genesis Is Born to Dance

Genesis  was recently selected to participate on the  Allstar Dance Team. Their season takes place from July 2013 to July 1, 2014. Genesis learned of her acceptance onto this year's competition team when they announced their selections during the Spring Recital 2013.

HER PERSONAL STATEMENT

“Ever since the age  of one and a half, I have been dancing. Dancing is my passion! I started with ballet and tumbling.  I danced for two studios and my love for ballet got better and better. An instructor chose me as a protege and began to work with me privately. I have danced for most of my life,  since I am only eight years old. I love to swim, participate in gymnastics, and I take five different dance classes: Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Ballet. Ballet is still my favorite. I also started modeling when I was five and over the years I have done a few shows.

This year, I’ve dedicated most of my time to other things, so I’ve stopped gymnastics for a little while, but I will go back to classes hopefully this summer.  I’ve decided to branch out and participate in other activities, such as acting, voice, and the dance competition team. I’ve always wanted to be a team member, but until now, I wasn't old enough to be one. This is my first year with the competition team, and so far, it’s been pretty fun,  but hard at the same time.  Music is also in me just like dance. I enjoy learning the basics of music through piano and the hard parts of singing in my voice class. It's been great studying to be a character in a musical production. I get to use all of my skills because we even dance for our roles!

Since before I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a dancer. Now that I’m growing up some, I have figured out that I want to be a superstar: by using all my artistic skills. Performing in plays, commercials, or even movies would be awesome!

Recently, I created my first dance choreography by myself to enter a contest at school. The theme was: Believe, Dream, and Inspire. I mixed all of the dance styles that I'm studying, then called it my 'soup.' Many people inspire me to do many things, including dance. My family believes that I can do anything. My mom inspires me and she believes in my dream. If you ever have a dream to do something, just do it! I am asking for your help in the next step towards the pursuit of my dream."

DETAILS

 Genesis will be in competitions this season, which will lead up to the opportunity to perform at Nationals in June 2014. Her first competition is this January. DMI begins the journey with an exciting convention with technical classes and scholarships for the gaining! Her team will demonstate their skills in an arena where renowned dance instructors evaluate them. They will perform competitively for 3-days against other studio dance teams from all over the U.S. in front of professional judges and scouts.

COSTS

The total cost of the season $3500.00 for Genesis. We have participated in fundraisers to help defray some of the cost. Now that the competition season has started, funds are  needed for gear, costumes, hotel, and meals. Here is a breakdown of the main expenses:

[The seasonal commitment is from July 15, 2103 to July 1, 2014** There are monthly technical fees as a team member.]

SPONSORSHIP

Through sponsorship, Genesis receives all the necessary training, entrance fees and rehearsals, which will allow her to become a confident, prepared member of the performance team. Any amount raised above the goal will go towards attire/supplies, stylists and photography.
