Gavin Thomas Portrait

A few of us GT fans have had the idea to gift Gavin his portrait painted by our friend Nathalie Scott. Nathalie said:

Gavin’s portrait is part of a project I started 4 years ago when I decided to paint people who have had an impact on the Guildford Community one way or another in the past and the present.

The project is now coming to an end with an exhibition in November at the New House Art Space in Guildford. It will be composed of around 20 oil paintings on canvas and pencil drawings. Some of the portraits have already been bought by their subjects and the others will be for sale during the exhibition.

As I know Gavin would love to own his portrait, this idea came to me. Gavin has

brought a lot of joy and happiness for the last few decades to many people and I feel it would be a beautiful gesture if all his friends he met along the way would " chip in " to present him with his portrait as a surprise in July to coincide with his 300^th ‘Songs from the Summer House’ online gig. I know he would cherish it for years to come.

Gavin’s words when he first saw his portrait were along the line of: ”I would love to have it in the family to be able to pass it on to Lottie and the future generations "

So can we make this happen? If we all contribute a bit to a fund to allow us to buy the portrait from Nathalie and surprise Gavin with it as a gift?

So firstly – lets make this a surprise and not let slip to Gavin what’s going on – bear in mind he can hear what’s said in a whisper across a noisy crowded room .
