#FunkItImWalking represented by myself has been selected by the Festival Academy(an initiative of the European Festivals Association - EFA) to attend a pilot programme Digital (R)Evolution: Communication and New Technologies Training that will take place between 22-25 January 2020,in Antwerp - Belgium. This 4-day long training programme will bring together 15 festival managers from across the globe to critically reflect on the subject of digitalisation and the use of new technologies in the festivals’ field, and I am pleased to be amongst the chosen.

Through #FunkItImWalking I promote walking for the purposes of health, safety and the environment. I want to make it safe for women to walk in Soweto at and time of day in any condition. We will do this through an annual international walk (festival) and quarterly walking activities. We also aim to use this training to enhance our use of technology in ensuring that the streets of Soweto become safer for women.

I am eager and interested to exchange knowledge in this field and share innovative tools and ways of responding to digital and technological opportunities, formulating the right questions related to festivals and the impact of digitalization and the potential of new technologies and their use in social engineering for #FunkItImWalking

This new training module of The Festival Academy will assist me in addressing various fields of festival management (communication, marketing, social media, community building, educational outreach programmes and artistic choices) ensuring that #FunkItImWalking implements a successful annual walk and impactful walking activities.

The participation fee to attend the Digital (R)Evolution is €2100 (R35 000), flights and VISA costs of R15 000. I have managed to raise R6000 so far, please help me with raising the rest.
