I want to start off by saying that creating a GoGetFunding for myself is something I never thought I’d do. After receiving many offers of help I swallowed my pride and told myself that if 2020 has taught me anything it’s that it’s ok to ask for help. The funeral bill is not terribly steep just about $1,500 to cover the cost of his cremation. I would like to write an obituary in his local newspaper so if there are additional funds I will use them for that. Thank you so much to those who have reached out, your comments alone wrapped me up with love and I’ll be forever greateful. I wrote a little story about my brother so that you can get to know him a little bit. He was a good man and was a joy to know.

This is my Big Brother Greg. This year he turned 50, even though he doesn’t celebrate birthdays it still happened. He and I had a significant age gap so we never had the chance to bond as kids. However, when we were adults and were both living in Oregon we found each other and not only reconnected as siblings but we became really good friends. He loved me in spite of my shortcomings and I loved him in spite of his. When I needed help caring for our Mom he moved up and helped me care for her although it was not easy. He babysat my son and was a great support when I needed him. To look at us you might be hard pressed to find similarities. Rewind to our Mom, Brenda. She always wanted children, so much that sometimes when she would see a baby at the grocery store she would burst into tears and run out. Her first husband couldn’t give her a child so they decided to adopt. Greg always says “When Mom saw me she immediately picked me because I was the best looking one and I still am!” When Mom split from her first husband and our parents met, Dad became his Dad. Greg always told Dad that he was his only Dad, his real Dad. In our family Greg was never adopted, he was never half. He was always our BROTHER. He’s a confident, charismatic, happy and loving man. Every single time I saw him or talked to him he ALWAYS told me how much he loved me, I LOVE YOU SIS. Mom passed in January. Greg was on the other side of the bed looking into her eyes while I held her hand, brushed her hair and we told her it was ok to go. We held each other while we cried and were so glad to have each other to hold. We did not see eye to eye on many topics but the only fight we ever had was about the dangers of COVID. He told me multiple times and kept reminding me how dangerous it is “Chris, if we get it we’ll be fine but if Dad gets it that’s another story.” On November 5th Greg tested positive for COVID-19, he never told me he was sick. After he tested positive he wouldn’t go to the hospital because he was laid off (due to Covid) and uninsured. The morning of November over 18th he stopped breathing and left this world. He took my heart with him. My Big Brother Greg. I loved him so much.

Thank you again for the love and support.
