Campaign Story
Hi everyone!
About 6 months ago, we adopted an incredibly sweet elderly dog, Lola, who was found as a stray (very likely abandoned) on the coast of Spain. As soon as she arrived with us in Amsterdam, we took her to the vet and found 3 cancerous tumours, and she was quickly diagnosed with breast cancer. We went ahead and had the necessary operation (a full masctectomy), despite being dumped by the health insurance company on the morning of her operation - leaving us with bills exceeeding €1,500.
She's recovered amazingly well, loves life, is totally cancer-free and is really healthy in every other way! But we have now found out that she has severe Entropion in both eyes - a genetic condition whereby the eyelids grow inwards and irritate the eyes to the point of blindness. Sadly an operation cannot be avoided. Because this needs to be done by a specialist, the costs are staggering - estimated around €1000 (£850 / $1400) to €1400 (£1250 / $1950).
Having spent everything we had on the previous operations and additional vet care, we are desperately seeking help to get Lola the care that she needs. After everything's she's been through, we want her to be able to enjoy the years she has to come without being blind (she is also partially deaf, so she really needs her eyes!!).
Anything anyone can contribute will be so much appreciated, no matter how small or large.
Thank you!!
