Funding to Balance the Scales

I am an attorney in Pennsylvania. Did you know that BY LAW the District Attorney in each county is paid a salary which is $1,000 less than a county judge. As such, District Attorneys make roughly $185,000 per year! However, Public Defenders are paid whatever a county is willing to pay them...so...they make a fraction of that salary. Moreover, the District Attorney's office is funded with an amount that is often 4 or 5 times as much.

I am hoping to level the field. I'm trying to raise money to either assist Public Defenders or to help pay private counsel to assist with cases that would otherwise not get the representation needed.

A system of justice that is this unjust with resources cannot ever produce JUST results. The right to counsel is only effective if that counsel is effective and is provided the resources to be effective.
