Funding for the World Scout Jamboree

My name is Amy Robson and I am 14 years old. In 2019 4000 British Scouts will join scouts from all over the world in West Virginia and I am one of them! I will be part of a patrol representing Dorset, the birthplace of scouting, in the 24th World Scout Jamboree in July 2019. This will be an amazing opportunity and I am very lucky to have been selected. The Jamboree is a celebration that will last from the 22^nd of June till the 2^nd of August and will bring together people from many countries and cultures, united in the Scout movement. During this time myself and a group other scouts from Dorset and Brownsea will travel to the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia to join around 45,000 other scouts from all around the world. We will take part in activities such as hiking, white water rafting, archery and so much more. We will also be staying in an American university for a short time and visiting either Washington DC or New York City as part of a big city experience. I will get to meet thousands of people with similar interests to me, who speak different languages and come from many different cultural backgrounds. I will learn so much about so many different things and with amazing people by my side. Also I will get to experience a different continent for the first time and also get to travel by air for the first time too. This is such an amazing opportunity and every day I think about how lucky I am to be able to take part in this amazing thing.

But all this might not be able to happen. My goal is to raise £3,600, this will partly fund my attendance however more importantly allow scouts from less fortunate countries across the world to attend and share with us this amazing experience. We have been tasked with fundraising, which I am happy to do, but I fear I may not raise enough in time for the first instalment of £720 in March 2018. I am writing this letter because I think you can help me. Even a small amount will help me, whether I use it to pay part of my instalment or invest it in fundraising the money you would generously give would not go to waste.
