What compelled me to go back to College and study Chinese? Out of all the languages, that would have been a lot easier to write and speak, Chinese drew me in for just that reason. How often do you see Chinese Characters and wonder what they mean? Watch a movie or hear a conversation and wonder if what they are saying means the same thing in English?
There are only four tones in Mandarin. I can't say I have mastered the dialect, it's a lot like speaking French. I can understand what is said to me, but my American tongue just won't let loose. So I'm going to teach English in China! After months of searching, researching and interviewing, I will start my English teaching as an intern with Peterson English.
A little about me: An artist by nature, I have been successful at making money as a photographer, culinary and pastry chef. I learned the trades early on in high school. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, I always had dreams of moving to New York City. I have resided in Brooklyn, NY for the past twenty years. I went back to College two years before my daughter and just graduated with a Bachelors degree in TV/Radio. Peterson English will be the best educational immersion experience I hope to have while using my degree!
Why I ask for your help? It's an intern and I have to pay all my own expenses. I was just accepted into the program and have just a few months to get everthing in order. The deadline for paperwork and airline tickets is at the end of March. I hope to take a ten day tour of China this summer before starting my intern. I would love to come back to America with a fluent tongue and can speak and write two languages. Please help my dreams manifest. I do plan to work and live in China, but this will get me over there an get me started!
Much love and many thanks in advance.
