Fund Pablo’s Master’s degree

I am Pablo La Torre, a recent architecture graduate from Peru, wanting to radically CHANGE the way we live in cities.

My dreams of becoming an individual who is capable of making a truly positive impact in the built environment has driven all the decisions I have made throughout my architectural career. During my BSc Architecture at Bilkent University, I wanted to fully understand the development of the spaces we build so that I can provide life-changing architecture. This led me to an internship at Habitat for Humanity to see the tremendous need and positive impact of housing conditions, and then at real estate development firms to understand the financial aspect of the spaces we live in. Finally, after my graduation I knew one thing, I had to take action in the development of human-centered living spaces in urban areas and decided to start a real estate company called Lab+Us placing human, social, and environmental factors as the driving force of residential developments instead of financial gains. As an essential step for the progress of Lab+Us I decided to enter the MSc Real Estate program at Cass Business School in London for the upcoming 2020-2021 academic year, in order that I may understand real estate and all its economic, financial, and various aspects.

However, even though I have been awarded and accepted an unconditional offer at the program, I am facing a tremendous financial obstacle of £38,280 to fund my tuition fees and UK VISA requirements. Currently the COVID-19 crisis has made it even more difficult to pay such a big amount, with economic instability making student loans much riskier and expensive but regardless I have managed to gather savings from myself and my family of £8,000, however, no where near the required amount. There are amazing scholarship opportunities available for my situation and program which I have applied, however their application results will be published by August - October. This is a big problem since I have to have my funds covered by July for my UK VISA application process to start in time.

LAB+US

Since the very beginning of making Lab+Us, I have clearly set it's sole goal to create the best quality of life for the homes people live in. It will enter the market by first targeting the young populations at major cities all around the world that face a massive housing crisis. We want to provide flexible, fully-furnished, and affordable accommodation that create a lifestyle based around community, healthy living, nature, and environmental sustainability.

To achieve the serious ambitions at Lab+Us there are two things I know I have to do, get to fully understand the real estate world, and start Lab+Us at one of the main capitals in the world. The MSc Real Estate program at Cass Business School fits these two goals perfectly plus being the only business school in London that offers a real estate degree. Being at Cass will connect myself with the industry leaders in the real estate world which will allow me to build Lab+Us with a solid foundation in London and then scale to other major capitals in the world and improve the quality of life for thousands of people.
