WHY YOU SHOULD CARE ABOUT MY PROJECT:
The world's future is in my generation's hands. People to People is a program that President
Dwight D. Eisenhower began in 1956 as a peaceful solution in our war-filled
world. His vision was to give everyday citizens in different countries
opportunities to get to know each other, hoping that through this the result
would be understanding, friendship and lasting peace. People to People
Ambassador Programs are meant to break down cultural barriers by providing
travel opportunities for student delegates, led by experienced teachers. I have a wonderful opportunity to become part of this movement towards cultural understanding and peace.
THINGS I WILL EXPERIENCE:
I will be experiencing the Spanish culture by engaging in a friendly game of soccer. I will also watch and learn how to flamenco dance. In Italy I will meet priests and monks to learn about monastery life and test my confidence in rappelling down a castle wall in Assisi, Italy. I have been studying French for three years and am excited to immerse myself in the French language and culture. I will be welcomed by European Officials and be able to ask questions about their culture. I will swim in the Mediterranean sea. I will experience having a home-stay with a French or Spanish Family and I hope to make life long connections with the people I meet.
PLACES I WILL GO:
In Italy I will go to Rome, the Vatican, Roman Coliseum, and Florence to see Michelangelo's David. In France I will visit Cote d'Azure, Carcassonne and Tautavel. Also, I will travel to Spain and stay in Barcelona and Madrid. These are only a few of the sites I will see.
THINGS I WANT TO BRING BACK:
The most important thing that I want to bring back with me are the memories I will make. This is a once in a life time experience and I am honored to be a part of it. Material items will be priceless as well, but nothing will compare to the time I will spend with people who I hope to be able to call my friends.
HOW THIS AFFECTS MY FUTURE:
As an Ambassador I will have greater than an 80% chance of being accepted into the college of my choice. Through this opportunity I hope to develop a clearer picture for my future
