Campaign Story
On February 7th Sam was rushed to the hospital in critical condition with a sudden, severe group A streptococcal infection in his blood. In a matter of hours, Sam went from being a spunky, happy six year old, to child kept alive by emergency surgeries and life support. Friends and family rallied around him and prayed for his guardian angel to return our loving, smiling boy. It was not without a fight, but over the course of the next several days it became apparent that Sam would indeed return to us. After 7 days on life support, his body was able to start supporting itself, but it was apparent that the infection had caused irreparable damage in his limbs. By the end of the month, Sam had lost both legs below the knee as well as his right hand to this dreadful infection.
Sam’s fight has been incredible, but it is far from over. Medical costs for Sam’s care and rehabilitation are extraordinary, and will be ongoing for the rest of his life.
Sam’s
full rehabilitation will be made possible through the generosity of
those who love him. All funds raised will go to helping pay for Sam’s
ongoing medical expenses.
