Welcome to Singapore:
For those who have no idea what is Singapore
Singapore or Singapura is a city as well as a country in South East Asia, is a little red dot, a small island located just off the southern tip of Peninsular. Singapura is a Malay word. Singa means Lion and pura means City. That is why Singapore is also known as Lion City. Singapore is located far away from China. Singapore is so small that it has no capital. It is an island city-state in Southeast Asia.
And yes, We do speak English and We don't stop there! We have also our very own version of English, which We call it "Singlish".
WHAT IS SINGLISH
Colloquial Singaporean English, better known as Singlish, is an English-based creole language spoken in Singapore. The term Singlish is a blend of Singapore and English and is first recorded in 1973.
The vocabulary of Singlish consists of words originating from English, Malay, Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese, Tamil. Also, elements of American and Australian slang have come through from imported television series and films.
In 2016, Oxford English Dictionary (OED) announced that it has added 19 new "Singapore English" items such as "ang moh", "shiok" and "sabo" in both its online and printed versions. Several Singlish words had previously made it into the OED's online version, which launched in March 2000. Words such as "Lah" and "sinseh" were already included in OED's debut, while "kiasu" made it into the online list in March 2007.
And for our very campaign, We would like to share this special culture to the whole world while giving to those needy in Singapore too in a form of apparel. Not just about the shirts, We are hoping to give the needy a chance to work in the society and creating an income for them.
Many of them had been homeless and had been sleeping on the streets. As a part of our initiative, our goal is to provide them new shirts to re-start their life with, while providing them a job opportunity.
During our initial planning, many had asked us, "How many people can you help? There is like a lot of them sleeping in the streets. You can't possibly give all of them shirts and a job".
Well, our primary goal is to help as many as possible and as much as possible. The amount raised will not just to provide both you and them a shirt, but also creating a social enterprise to start the ball going.
Every little effort counts. Even though we start this initiative in Singapore, our goal is to help everyone around the world. This marks our very first step.
