Growing up in a developing country and obtaining a higher world-class diploma can sometimes be very difficult for many students. No matter what the challenges, I never let go of my dream and planned to do my MSc in Mechanical Engineering at Cranfield University which is one of the best Universities in the UK, which ranked 39th in the world for Engineering – Aeronautical, Mechanical and Manufacturing (QS World University Rankings 2019).

From my childhood, I have witnessed how both my father and mother are working so hard to support the family. I’m very always thankful and lucky to have parents like them. But it will be almost impossible for them to pay my tuition fees for Cranfield University. The normal tuition fee for my course is £21,500. Although I managed to obtain a scholarship of £10,000, the remaining fee is £11,500 and still, it is too difficult for my family to pay that amount of money as my father is almost 60 years old and he will retire from his job later this year. Hopefully, I can manage my living cost in the UK by doing part-time jobs while studying there, but paying tuition fee by doing part-time jobs is close to impossible.

Despite the struggle, I have always been a very determined student and I have succeeded in achieving an exceptional academic result. In elementary school and high school, I was awarded the "Talent Pool" scholarship, which is considered to be the best achievement at this level for students. In addition, I received the “Talented of the Year” award at my higher secondary school. Being determined to become an Engineer I chose to study Science both in High School and College, where my GPA was 5.00/5.00 and 4.5/5.00 respectively. I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Chongqing Jiaotong University, China, with a CGPA of 3.38 and I have obtained over 83% on average. In my final year of my bachelor’s degree, I picked the topic “Design of Planetary Gear Reducer For Small Lifting Transportation Equipment” for my graduation project and got the uppermost score in my batch.

My future goal is not only to be a highly skilled engineer, but also to join the race to ‘Net Zero’ carbon emissions by the middle of this century. From my childhood, I have been witnessing how my homeland (Bangladesh), which is frequently cited as one of the most vulnerable countries to climate changes, has been suffering due to the anticipated adverse effect of climate change. As a future Mechanical Engineer, I believe I must give my talent, skills and hard work to achieve ‘Net Zero’ emissions that will not only be helpful for my country but also globally.

This Donation will only push me further towards my Master's degree and my dreams of one day having a successful career as a Mechanical Engineer. Receiving this fund will boost my self-confidence, knowing that I not only completing a very important task but also taking the responsibility of creating a foundation for getting me closer to my career goals. Your donation will take away some of the burdens and help me to better focus on my studies. I will really appreciate your contribution.
