Friends of Antbear

Antbear Lodge, hit by the COVID 19 travel drama, is doing its level best to survive. Its more than just a business, its a family of 13 staff with zero income for the next few months before any recovery period can start. We somehow have to meet our overheads, staff and community needs and feed our animals. Antbear Lodge has a sustainable ethos and has invested in our local community with social programs like supporting the local primary school and its entrepreneur development program, which have all come to a complete stop. It is also home to a menagerie of rescued animals.

Whats needed right now is your assistance. Please can you donate any amount that you could afford to help us bridge this gap. We would like to consider your donation as trade not aid. Let us have your email address with your donation and we will send you a voucher for double that amount and you can redeem it whenever you like from your next booking at Antbear Lodge.

To bridge the next 3 months we will need at least R100 000 (€5000) and the bulk of that will go towards staff needs, utilities, upkeep of the farm animals and other basics. If anything is left over we plan to continue our support of our community to develop meaningful alternatives of livelihoods and economic development. We do hope to see some government support that we have applied for but the truth of the matter is that government does not have endless resources and there are many business in a similar predicament to us, so this is an unlikely event. Even if assistance arrives in a couple of months time it will be too late. The worst thing we can imagine is the families of our staff and community relationships going hungry. So the need is right now and it will be more than just Antbear Lodge that will be saying thank you.
