"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much".
We are a newly formed volunteering team and our aim is to help in anyway we can those caught up in the humanitarian refugee crisis across Europe.
We have already given over our pub cellar to take in donations of camping gear, clothing and other essentials for those stuck in the limbo of the French coast. The response, within 24 hours of a request being put out, has been staggering. Locals queued to bring us so much stuff we quickly ran out of space and had to find other places to store. The chance to not just sit and watch the crisis deepen, but to help, swept through Beeston. Many people asked 'What else can we do?' this inspired us to come up with an idea:
We want to go down to Calais ourselves, and deliver aid directly. While we are there we want to cook a hot, healthy meal for as many of those stuck in refugee camps as possible. Its only a small thing, just one meal, but as a simple act of kindness to people who have seen little compassion of late, fleeing conflicts and disaster, hopefully show some humanity. We have the equipment, the skills…now we need just one more thing to make it possible, and thats where you come in.
