Heavens Kitchen is a Christian no profit charity that is run by some locals in the Pinetown / Upper highway area. Started in 2014 by myself Kayleigh and my partner Abraham.
Every Thursday evening we feed around 200 homeless people. We have a local bakery that supplies us with bread and the other donations we get are from volunteers and the local community.
Once a month we supply all 200 people with a goodie bag filled with toiletries, candles, matches, lip ice and tin food. WE do this to make their lives a bit easier on the street.
Our hearts burn for the poor – We decided in winter 2014 to start assisting the homeless, as it was a really cold winter. We decided to cook up soup or stews in winter, that have some nutrition in them and the rest is history. Ingredients for meals are all supplied and donated by people in the community and we have a wonderful group faithful volunteers who assist with all the planning and serving.
Every year we love doing a full on Christmas Party. That means a glorious hot meal with meat, vegies and dessert , along with all the trims of hats , crackers and pressies. Its really our biggest and favourite highlight of the year . Watching our less fortunate enjoying Christmas and being served and spoilt. We fellowship, pray and just have a wonderful time together.
Last year the full Christmas meal was donated , but as times are getting harder, the previous supplier could not do this for free but will do it all at cost. That means around R25 per person for a full Christmas meal and dessert... pretty good deal. This means we need around R5000 for the catering. The rest of the money is needed for presents and really just spoiling our less fortunate. Any money not used on the Christmas event will be carried over into our usual Thursday evening feeding.
God is good, he loves everyone equally! Yaweh loves the less fortunate as we do. Please open your hearts is does not matter how small the donation as it all counts every penny .
Thanking you
Kayleigh
