Our dear Elena has finally been laid to rest. We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who has shown their support throughout this whole journey. The ending might not have been what we all wanted, but we all know that she is at peace now and that we remain here to take care and look after everyone that she loved.

All the contributions have been forwarded to Elena’s family. We will keep this campaign open until Sunday, August 12, and whatever we receive here will continue to be forwarded to her family.

Even after this campaign is closed, the accounts indicated here will remain active and feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions related to this.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our dear Elena has joined our Creator around 1:30pm Manila time, July 24, 2018 We have no interment details as of yet. We will update as we get the information.

We will still collect donations and unfortunately, this time they will go to funeral expenses.

We are friends of Maria Elena Tolentino-Santos. We all met at Our Lady of Grace Academy (now St. Mary's Academy of Caloocan City) way back in the 80s. We all grew up together and remained friends even after we graduated high school. Several life events have been celebrated together - birthdays, marriages, babies and yes, even loved ones moving on.

You could say that we are sisters from different mothers.

Elena has recently been diagnosed with a mass on the right side of her brain (Meningioma) and will be undergoing surgery on July 18 to have it removed.

Elena is a single mom to a bright and talented ten-year-old, Nikki. Elena was raising Nikki with her husband, Elmer. They lived a happy and simple life in Santiago, Isabela. However, last October 2017, Elmer suddenly died from a stroke.

Around April, Elena started getting headaches. Nothing to be alarmed over. She thought it was because she was still emotional because of her spouse's passing.

She was also having issues with her vision. Her vision was not perfect, she's been wearing prescription glasses since high school. However, this vision loss was different because she started bumping into things and stumbling. It seemed like she was losing her peripheral vision. She initially shrugged it off because she assumed that it was just her eyesight getting worse. But through the insistence of her family, she went for further examination. It was after the MRIs that they discovered the mass on the right side of her brain.

We have created this fundraiser to help support Elena during this challenging time.

Elena is self-employed, but right now, she is unable to work because of her diagnosis. The tumor is putting pressure inside her head which is causing her to have a constant dull headache. Not the kind that would make you scream in pain but enough to be debilitating. We are assuming that she will not be able to go back to work until she's fully recovered from her surgery. Both her and Nikki are in Metro Manila right now staying with Elena's mom.

We would like to raise funds that will at least make a dent on the medical and healing costs. The goal amount that we've set is not a hard goal. We have not yet set a deadline for contributions. We are not aiming to cover all of it, but if your generosity will allow us to do so and we go over the amount, that will be more than welcome.
