Dwayne was born with Barth Syndrome.
Barth Syndrome is an extremely rare, life threatening genetic disorder primarily affecting males around the world. Currently there are just under 200 confirmed cases worldwide. It is caused by a mutation in the tafazzin gene (TAZ, also called G4.5), resulting in an inborn error of lipid metabolism.
