Campaign Story
On the 26th May the Calais refugee camp was set on fire. It is becoming clear this is the biggest fire the camp has faced with hundreds left homeless.
So many people are living in cramped, squalid conditions under so much pressure and tensions are high. Very sadly some fights broke out, the situation quickly escalated and a large number of shelters have burnt down leaving hundreds of people without shelter. Many are injured, including volunteers.
The aftermath of yesterday is devastating with so many homes destroyed we desperately need your help more then ever in order to respond to this disaster.
Every penny raised will go directly to Care4Calais and will help us to distribute urgently needed food, clothing and temporary shelters, helping to rebuild what is left of the refugees lives and offer much needed comfort
Thank you for your support

I am donating on behalf of the Faversham and Villages Refugee Solidarity Group. Members are doing what they can to support refugees by making monetary donations and visiting the Jungle with food and other necessities and to work. We have set up stalls in our Market on 2 occasions so far to share information, collect donations and to get signatures on a petition. This has been handed to the leader of Swale B.C.with nearly 500 signatures, asking them to increase the number of Syrian families they plan to welcome( currently 25 over 5 years) to do more to help the unaccompanied children and those people who are forced make the Jungle their home. This will be debated at full council meeting on 29 June. We are in close touch with our MP and have links with our MEP. I thought it might help you to know that there are people behind the scenes supporting your work and trying to make changes. Pauline Phillips
