9.1. Dijagnoza FIP. Hvala

9.1. Diagnosis of FIP. When your life starts unhappily, and you have shown the strength to fight, fate tries to prove to her again that you are stronger than her. Sivkić was left alone on the street for a month because a car killed his mother and he was the only one of his brothers to get out of the hole where his mother put them... The other brothers died in the hole waiting for her... He got out and asked for help. The good people raised him in the village as they knew how... however, the kitten continued to make poor progress and after he lost weight and his belly grew, I suspected FIP, which was confirmed. Blood tests and a positive PCR for the corona virus were also attached. 150 ml of fluid was extracted from his stomach... I decided to try to save him. It also reminds me of the Kosturka I found last year who left because of FIV. Sivkić is part of the unfortunate cat statistics in which, in 2% of cats, the feline corona virus mutates into the deadly FIP, which until recently led to the death of cats in agony... However, an experimental drug has appeared whose research is still ongoing and which brings hope and increasingly better results. Many do not know that Niels C. Pedersen, DVM, PhD, professor emeritus of the University of California-Davis, while trying to find a cure for feline coronavirus and FIP, also found a cure for today's human Covid. With funding from the then-Winn Feline Foundation (now the EveryCat Health Foundation), Pedersen used a drug very close to the antiviral remdesivir to treat cats with FIP. He was even surprised by the incredible success. The kittens lived and thrived for more than a year after his initial work, which is unheard of for cats diagnosed with FIP. However, Pedersen was unable to obtain a patent for the drug, so he and Yunjeong Kim, DVM, PhD, an associate professor in the Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Medicine at the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, created a drug they called GS that had an even greater degree of success. in the treatment of the wet form of FIP. Little Sivkić came out again and is asking for help because the medicine is very expensive. He is also looking for advice and ideas on how to get through the 84-day treatment as easily as possible, 84 painful days in which he receives an injection every day, and with each day he is closer to the hope that his life will not end in just 8 months... Without therapy, Sivkić would not be here 2-3 weeks... Thanks
