Financial exclusion

My name is Mbuso Tenza, I am 24 years old. I am doing 4th year in Chemical Engineering at University of KwaZulu-Natal and I am currently facing financial exclusion on the 6th of March 2020.

I chose Chemical Engineering to encourage the youth that no matter how your background is, you can do anything you put your mind to. I once said the same thing on my Ukhozi FM interview 2016.

I have done a lot of tutoring for my former high school to make sure the learners are guided in choosing the right career and making sure they get all the help they need towards the subjects that think are hard like Maths and Science.

I have also demonstrated practicals in university of KwaZulu-Natal to help students understand practicals and also raising few funds to help me towards my studies.

I wrote a Zulu Novel titled Bengithi Ngazi Kahle and I self-published it. It speaks to the youth especially those in Matric about challenges learners face and how others have overcome those challenges.

I got sick in 2018 1st Semester, hence couldn't write my exams. 2019 I had to repeat the modules I was doing in 2018 hence accumulated the debt I have. The contract for funding states that they cannot fund repeated modules and hence I cannot register as I am owing the university.

I now seek for funds to help me register as this is my last year of study.

I wish to also help students who are in situations like mine when I have completed my degree and got hired. There are lot of issues students face other than academics and most lead up to our colleagues having depression. So my wish is that one day there are support programs that help a student in facing their issues.

I hope I do get the funds so I can register for my final year.
