"Family Adopts Family"

Due to the circumstances that we are living today and the huge need of families at risk, elderly individuals and Holocaust survivors that live in constant need and others that have been affected by Covid in Israel, we have been running with great success our usual food baskets campaigns in a different way that still allows us to accomplish our purpose of helping as many people as possible and at the same time to keep the required conditions to take care of everyone's health.

Therefore, this is how it works:

A family “ADOPTS” a family in need as a one time activity.
The families interested in taking part of the project donate money which 100% of it goes to cover either a small (basic), medium or large food basket for a family, elderly individual or Holocaust survivor in need. We buy it for you online and deliver it directly from the supermarket to their home.

Once you donate, we send you by email the details of the family or families that you adopted so you have the information of who is receiving it and if you know Hebrew you can even call them and wish them a happy holiday :).

All the baskets will be delivered between September 13 - 15 so they have enough time to prepare for the holiday and celebrate it with happiness and dignity. For that reason, we would love to get as many donations as possible by September 8th so we have enough time to order and make sure every family receives the basket they are expecting on time.

All the families we support are reached directly through the welfare department and social workers who we constantly work with.

What do the baskets include?

Basic basket around 400 NIS ($120.00 ) (small family or an individual)

About Us

IMAOT MEHABKOT (Embracing Mothers) is an organization of about one hundred and fifty mothers, from central Israel, which was created about three years ago. Our main goal is to support families and children at risk, elderly individuals and Holocaust survivors.

The organization is not registered as a registered association but maintains cooperation with the various welfare authorities in order to provide the right and responsible aid for those in need.

During the past year, we established a cooperation with the Netanya Foundation, which allows us to receive donations from abroad, companies and businesses and grant them the necessary approvals for tax purposes.

Our ongoing Projects:

The sandwich project
We provide food security to 100 children at risk from an elementary school in Netanya. The children who participate in the project receive sandwiches, fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.

Food baskets
Collection, packaging and distribution of food baskets for families, elderly and Holocaust survivors at risk for the holidays and times of crisis. The identification of those in need is done in full collaboration with the municipal welfare authorities. Before each campaign, we raise food and monetary donations, to ensure that each of the families we accompany received the aid that they need.

Birthday surprise boxes
As part of a collaboration we established with WIZO Hadassim Middle School, eighth-graders had the task to prepare 'surprise boxes' for the birthdays of dozens of children at risk.

Winter coats collection
We run a collection campaign of winter coats in excellent condition for children at risk.

Back to school project
Collection and distribution of new backpacks and materials for children at risk and new immigrants.

Purim Costumes
Buy costumes every year, for underprivileged children. The costumes are purchased, at the choice of the children, with donations we raise,

Accompanying shelters and emergency centers for families and youth at risk
We are proud to accompany six frameworks of shelters and emergency centers for families and youth at risk, who have experienced severe violence. Our accompaniment includes collecting basic products for their new life as a family or individuals, distributing gifts on holidays to children and responding to various emergency calls from staff of the centers we support.

We thank you for your support and we are looking forward to sending you all the thank you note updating the amount of families we managed to reach.
May we always be on the giving side and we wish you a happy and healthy Rosh Hashana.
