As most of you know, Officer Lawrence DePrimo, NYPD, was featured in a photo that went viral when he spent his own money to buy a new pair of boots for an apparent homeless man.

Unfortunately, the story doesn't have quite the happy ending it should. It turns out, the homeless man is not actually homeless, and he has already stopped wearing the boots, presumably because they hurt his own fundraising efforts.

So what exactly did Officer DiPrimo get for the hundred bucks or so he spent out of his own pocket? While the rest of the country was able to (briefly) celebrate an amazing act of charity, I can't help but think Officer DePrimo might be feeling a little bit jaded now, along with his fellow officers and New Yorkers.
I'm thinking we shouldn't let that happen.

If everyone who sees this just donates $1, in no time at all, we can reimburse Officer DePrimo for his expense, and then some. Let us all pitch in and give him a generous return on his investment in Humanity, so that this Christmas, he can re-spend that money on someone who might actually appreciate it.
