Campaign Story
I am a psychology student and budding psychologist from Somerset, UK. I also have an extremely deep interest into the causes and effects of mental illnesses, particularly in teenagers; a very personal and passionate subject to me.
As a bit of a background, I work as an online support worker for counselling for teenagers and adults from all over the world, working with people with all sorts of issues, probably 80% of which concerning a mental health problem that they are either too scared to talk about with someone, or too affected by to seek help. The taboo that this subject has created is not only shocking, but harmful, and so I have taken it upon myself to run this study and look for the causes and effects of these disorders in teenagers.
The study will consist of a combination of a self report-style questionaire (which we hope to push out to all corners of the world) and a content analysis-project, contributed to by selected participants. The full study will be written and released over the summer, and all of the results will be available to anyone who pledges £5.00+, with the exclusive content analysis work available to anyone who pledges £10.00+.
The target for this study is fairly low as that is the minimum amount needed to raise in order to run the survey with the service selected and to make the study worth while. However the challenge with this project is that it works in a fine balance; the more people who take part, the more we need to run the survey service. This is why every single penny and pound is absolutely vital, as the more recieved the more that can be put into the service to give us a really broad and worthwhile study.
