Hi!

My name is Alexander Lam, and I have been selected to go on a trip to Italy, France, and England as a People to People United States Student Ambassador! In order to fund this once in a lifetime trip, I'll need your help!

Why Should You Care?

People to People was first founded by President Eisenhower, and his aim was to promote peace throughout the world, having experienced firsthand the death and destruction of World War II. His aim was to have students visit other countries, learn other cultures, and come back a global citizen, ready to enhance the bonds between countries, while educating us as students. As the next generation of adults to enter the real world in the United States, we will be the ones delegating between countries. We will be the ones to push our frontiers farther then they even have been. We will be the ones keeping the peace between countries. As global citizens, we will return having a better knowledge of the world than anyone will ever have, and it will help us blaze the way to peace.

Where Will I Go, and What Will I Do?

In Italy, I will be visitng the Sistine Chapel, seeing the amazing work of Michelangelo. We will also have the opportunity to learn about the beginnings of Christianity by speaking to monks, and even living at the monastery for a day! I will be rappeling down an ancient castle wall in Assisi. I'll be participating in a homestay program on an Italian farm, learning the cultures of the Italians, milking goats, and making authentic pizza. In France, I will visit the Louvre, seeing the beautiful paintings housed there, including the Mona Lisa. I will also gaze upwards at the Eiffel Tower, the landmark of Paris. In England, I will be riding on the London Eye, seeing the landscape of London from a whole new perspective.

Why Does This Matter, and What Will I Learn?

As I mentioned earlier, we are the next generation of peacekeepers. With this newfound knowledge of the world, I can make better decisions that may mean the difference between peace and war.  I will bring make lifetime friends as well as great memories of these beautiful countries. The experience is truly priceless. As a result of this program, I wil become a global citizen, performing community service to help others before, during, and after the trip. This paves the way for my future, giving my a platform to stand on when it comes to college admissions.
