There refugee crises is one of the major humanitarian issues going on in our world today. Thousands of people have had to leave dangerous situations in their home countries to try and find a place of safety for themselves and their families. The majority of refugees in Calais have come from Afghanistan, Sudan, Eritrean, Iraq, Iran and Syria, where conflicts have forced them to leave their homes.
The major camp, colloquially known as 'The Jungle', was dismantled by French authorities back in 2016 but people are still arriving and are spread around in lots of makeshift camps, often without the basic necessities to survive. The majority of people who are in these camps are there through no fault of their own and would prefer to be back home, but until that is safe to do they need help and support.
