Welcome to my fundraising page, I'm Emily!
I am raising money to volunteer in Madagascar as part of the marine conservation program in association with IVHQ / MRCI for three months in September 2020. The aim of the project is to try and preserve the biodiversity, health and growth of the reef system surrounding the Island of Nosy Komba. I will also collect data on the wildlife of the island, determining frequency and population strength of varying species in order to monitor changes and provide vital information for further research. Immediate effects of the project include beach cleans and educating the local community about environmental issues, conservation and protection of biodiversity. The money raised will help cover not only the fees of the program, but airfares, equipment and scuba qualifications needed in order to take part.
I decided to apply for this project as I've always had a keen interest in environmental issues and as I have started to think about the future, it has been at the forefront of my mind. I have applied for university to study environmental science in 2021 and this program would not only be an incredible experience and a constant source of motivation during my time at university, but an indication of the type of career I'd like to have one day.
Along with money donated, I will be working hard to earn most of the money myself but any contribution you are able to make will definitely be appreciated! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this page and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
