Looking for help and support

Some of my family and friends are getting together to do a sponsored 5km fun run, “Race for College” on the 25th August 2013. We are looking for people to join our crew and help raise some money to help Katie pay for equipment she will need to continue to work from home when she is unable to get into college.

A lot of you will already know that Katie has a rare genetic disorder which means her immune system is really weak and attacks her own body causing repeated infections, rheumatoid arthritis, B-CLL and chronic fatigue. Katie has just left high school after sitting 8 GCSE's and we hope she gains the same great results as she got last year when she was entered early for 4 others. She has achieved all this while only being able to attend school part time, she has had the great fortune of attending a high school where there was home school available, this meant she was able to keep up with her studies while she was ill, exhausted and even while in hospital undergoing treatment. Unfortunately when Katie goes to Shena Simon college in September to study Music Technology there is no provision for home school , if she is going to be able to continue to carry on she will need equipment at home the same as they have at college. The cost of the equipment is around £1500 . Parrs Wood High school are going to give £300 towards the cost and are continuing to fund raise, we are so grateful for there help and thoughtfulness, they are doing this as a testament to the handwork and determination that Katie has shown over the past five years.

Any money raised above the cost of equipment will be donated to the Starlight unit at Wythenshawe Hospital who have cared for Katie over the past 16 years.

http://www.bigfunrun.com/?manchester this is the link with all the information about the race as you will see there is a charge to enter the race however if we enter as group it will reduce the price, it would be great to have a big group of us running, walking, crawling together. If any one wants to join us let me know by 30th July. If you don't fancy the run but would like to sponsor one of us let me know too.

Hello Mandy,

Here is a list of the basic equipment. Katie will need some leads and headphones too, but PMT Manchester will advise you on what's best in their stock.

The list below tells you which computer she would need. The Focusrite interface and Alesis MIDI controller are one of many in the range, and when you go to PMT, they may suggest something else/special offer etc.

The Abelton is software that she will be using during level 2. If she progresses to Level 3, she will need a different software programme called LogicPro, just so you are aware.

Let me know if you have any further queries.

Kind Regards

Deirdre

Deirdre
