Doh! I’ve entered a Marathon 😬

Campaign Story
I will be running my first Marathon, in Copenhagen, on 15 May 2022. This will be in memory of my very dear friend, Krisz. whose reserves of endurance and good humour remain an inspiration. I will also be raising funds for the Diótörés Alapítvány (Nutcracker Foundation), a wonderful organisation offering practical and emotional support to vulnerable young people, who are at risk of homelessness as they leave care.
Any donation, large or small, will make a difference. Even 75p (250ft) can provide a hot meal and the chance of a friendly chat, £12 (5000ft), can provide clothes for a job interview and the chance of a new start.
Thank you for any help you feel able to offer x

Half Marathon!
Update posted by Rachel HOMER at 07:58 am
It's been tougher than I imagined getting through the training, but today's half reminded me that running can be fun! Gorgeous weather, some dedicated cheerers, and the lovely setting of Richmond Park. The idea of running that distance twice is a little bit terrifying though!
30K!
Update posted by Rachel HOMER at 02:25 pmManaged a 30K long run today, all the way to Hellingly and back, in glorious sunshine on the Cuckoo Trail. Could barely walk at the end, but quickly recovered with a family barbecue and happy bombardment of great-nephews & great-niece.
Longest run yet!
Update posted by Rachel HOMER at 07:00 pm
After almost three weeks off sick and an unfortunate incident with a heavy glass and a big toenail, this was the run that I thought would never happen! Glorious sunshine and a lovely route, my legs won't thank me tomorrow, but they did good today
Storming through week 4
Update posted by Rachel HOMER at 07:54 pmA big thank you to offline doners, Rob & Ralph, as well as those online! It's been a challenging end to week 4, training through Storms Eunice & Franklin, but there's nothing like accountability to get you out in the wind and rain!

100k completed!
Update posted by Rachel HOMER at 12:06 pmFirst run of week 3 training, and passed the 100km mark. Hadn't considered the 42k at the end of all this would just be a tiny cherry on such a big cake of preparation. Speaking of cake, carb loading is going well and energy is just about being sustained by
Week 1 training:Pizzas and Parks
Update posted by Rachel HOMER at 12:55 pmTraining runs completed with a bit of creative thinking: Running pizza delivery, night-time runs round the block, forcing my sister to forego the Saturday lie-in for a muddy 5k round Wormwood Scrubs, and 13k of circuits with the "real" runners of Dulwich Park to complete the long run. 15 weeks
