We are a very small animal rescue, we are a nonprofit 5013c, we work solely on donations! Due to current pandemic our donations are at a stand still, which means animals are not receiving care they desperately need! We have 4 volunteers including Director/Owner of the rescue, who spend countless hours, trying to do all we can! We have exhausted all our personal finances, trying to save as many animals as we can!
We were contacted threw a neighbor currently living in this neighborhood, stating they Have reached out to several bigger rescues and no one would come and help, they stated there was a very large cat colony, they were noticing a lot of cats with missing limbs tails etc. Without a second thought we immediately got involved! Not knowing the extent of the circumstances involved!! When we first went to assess the situation to see what steps we needed to take, and to make a plan, we had no idea how horrible this was, it took an emotional impact on all of us! We looked at these sweet babies, with tears in our eyes, as our hearts were breaking! These poor cats were walking around a very well taken care of middle-class neighborhood, missing tails, paws, legs, it was so unreal! We new we had to get the Cranston Police Department & Cranston animal control involved, which they now are! As far as the cats safety & getting these cats out of that neighborhood is up to us! The PD will work as hard as they can to find out who's doing this!
These cats did nothing wrong to be hurt like this! It started by an elderly neighbor feeding if you cats in the neighborhood, Unfortunately, other people in this neighborhood don't like these cats being there & want them gone!
and they are going to try to do it themselves and which means harming these cats!
They are shooting them with BB Guns, illegal leg traps etc! There's over 25+ cats, kittens several with missing legs, paws, tails! Injuries from BB Guns etcThis is horrific! We need to get these cats out of there immediately!
We have foster homes lined up already, unfortunately without proper vetting, & emergency vetting for injured cats, were at a stand still!! This is absolutely destroying us! Due to laws we can't put into cats into foster homes, without vetting these cats first! If we don't try to get this colony under control, they're going to keep having more kittens, which is only going to upset neighbors even more! That means more injured cats! We have documents from animal control, local Police Dept, as well as prior vetting receipts & X-rays, on the injured cats we already removed! Those cats are now adopted and thriving in their new homes! This is our plan for all of these beautiful cats!! Without help we cannot save these cats! It's absolutely the worst case we've came upon! We are asking other animal lovers to please help us save this colony before anyone cats/kittens have to suffer at the hands of people who should be helping protect them not hurting them! Any amount will help! Thank you so much!
We will be updating along the journey saving these babies one at a time!!
