The programme only starts in September 2020 and is scheduled to go ahead, with contingency plans in place.

Do you feel its becoming abundantly clear we need to rethink some systems within our society? Within some ways that us humans live? Cultivating people within our communities to help our species align closer with natural systems and processes is an important step in helping humanity move in a more ecologically conscious direction.

Help me fund Postgraduate studies that I've been accepted to attend in Ecological Design Thinking at the renowned Schumacher College in the UK. I've been indicated as a "strong candidate" for this programme, with numerous projects and initiatives I'm involved with in Cape Town and around Southern Africa I want help this Schumacher programme (and network) to contribute to.

I've researched and submitted countless bursary and scholarship applications, finding that most of them are only available for full time Masters students, which this is not. The exchange rate between the Rand and the GBP, and the residency costs of living there for 4 months, makes the opportunity impossible for me. And so, I'm being vulnerable and hopeful and launching this crowdfunding campaign.

If you're able to contribute or share it with someone who might be interested to do so, please do, I will be eternally grateful for your investment in me.

Financial Breakdown:
£5,000 tuition fees at Schumacher College
£299/week residential costs
£142 visa application fees
£1,100 travel costs
= £10,129

Updated Financial Breakdown (with COVID-19 programme delivery adjustments bringing down the cost)

Tuition Fee = £3,750
Travel Costs = £1,100
Residential Costs = £3,289 (£299/week x 11)
Visa Costs = £142
Total = = £8,281

For more information and acceptance documentation from the college, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Why Schumacher College?

"We need ecological design centres in every region of the world to mid-wife the transition and serve as repositories of know-how and know why . . . Schumacher, the Dartington Estate, and Totnes could fill the role of flagship in that movement." -
David Orr, former advisor to Al Gore

People from all over the world, of all ages and backgrounds, have been informed, inspired and encouraged to act, by their transformative courses for sustainable living. Schumacher College has an enviable reputation for cutting-edge learning. Their work is to inspire, challenge and question ourselves as co-inhabitants of the world, to ask the questions we all struggle to find answers to and to find sound knowledge, intuition and wonder in our search for solutions. "Schumacher College is one of the few places I know where economic questions are being asked as openly as they need to be. When I run seminars there, I learn as much as I teach." - Kate Raworth, radical economist, creator of Doughnut Economics

"Schumacher is a very special place. As we try and figure out what on earth we’re going to do with this unraveling planet, it’s become a thinktank for hope, a battery for positive vision!"
- Bill McKibben, Founder of 350.org.

Enthused and humbled by the backing, and almost there!

Update posted by Devon Concar at 09:06 am

It’s not easy to describe the feeling when people you know, your community, give you a show of support that almost stuns you to humility. I’m so thankful to everyone who’s commented, shared and parted with their own valuable funds (especially in such a financially uncertain time). The reception of. . . . .
